Guanajuato City Tour

If you want to see a town that is unique, you have to go to Guanajuato. Located in the mountains, this town started in the mid 1500's after the silver mines were discovered. Inscribed in the UNESCO list in 1990, Guanajuato has so much to offer. Colorful houses on the hills, a market that looks like a train station, an amazing colection of Diego Rivera paintings, magnificent churches, and beatiful squares make this town the pefect place to visit.

In this tour we're going visit the University, drive in the tunnels underneath the city, visit one of the silver mines, do a walking tour in downtown, and visit the house where the famous artist Diego Rivera was born.

Itinerary

  • Starting in San Miguel and drive to Guanajuato.

  • Optional visits are: Mummy museum, Silver mine, Diego Rivera's House, Ex Hacienda de San Gabriel Barrera.

  • Lunch.

  • Walking tour in downtown.

  • El Pípila.

  • Return to San Miguel.

  • Duration 8-9 hours

 

Transportation method and recomendations

  • Sedan Honda with A/C for 1-3 travellers. Suburban for 4-5 travellers.

  • Level of activity moderate.

  • Use comfortable shoes, a hat or a cap, bottle of water.

  • Mondays some museums are closed, but it's possible to do the tour.
